Rushed Blog
I have the day off today (Lincolns Birthday), and right now Courtney is out walking the kids. I just got done skateboarding and am sweating all over this chair. Totally sweet. But I felt obligated to write a new blog because the title of my last one, George Clooney is in Springfield, needs to be off my homepage. It was just a rumor that he was in town, and even though Im not held to very high journalistic standards, it does make me a little embarrassed that I was so quick to spread the news.
Courtney just got home, so I dont have much time before one of the kids (or Courtney) will need maintenance at some point.
Ethan would like to say a few words:
..,,eeettttbbbbhhhhAANNNNNNNn
(I may or may not have directed him to certain letters)
Mia needs a bottle now, so I will have Courtney finish my blog:
I would like to thank Abe Lincoln for having a birthday and the school district for celebrating that birthday. I was able to do a little retail therapy at Target today while Dave was in charge of the kids. But Dave is such a weenie about watching the kids that he had to take them over to his parents house. He needs to man up and watch them by himself for a whole day. He has no idea what I go through every day.
I am so excited about moving closer to Target. Our moving date is less than a month away. Im going to have to get a part-time job to support my spending habits, though. So, send me your job descriptions for things I can do at home to make money while listening to a baby and a toddler scream. Please note that I am currently not accepting any position that brings more screaming toddlers or infants into my home.
Im off to forage for food now. In all my shopping excitement, I forgot to eat lunch. I was only at Target for 3 hours. ![]()

This doesnt really fit under any category on daveheinzel.com, but its extremely important. The Decemberists are coming to U of I! And theyre practically giving away tickets...$24 for the public and $19 with my fancy I-Card...it doesnt get much better than that. Go here http://www.star-course.com/ for info.

Courtney, since you adore retail therapy (and at good stores, I might add) have you considered selling stuff on Ebay for extra money? You could even ask friends for their stuff, too. I have a friend who makes $500-2500 a month doing this.
PS. I went to your Target last night and bought a crib, changing table and Diaper Genie. Good prices, all! :O)
PPS. Is it snowing there, yet? (5:15pm CST)

No snow here. I have thought about doing ebay consignment. I read into it before and got scared by all the recommendations for contracts and such. I have no idea what percentage to take either.

Yeah, Im no good at that kind of stuff either, otherwise I would have started doing it, too. I decided to do something at home that I figured was easier - daycare. Good grief! ...now, Im counting the months til maternity leave...

This is only hearsay but Ive heard that the percentages on Ebay these days are too high to make a buck. Plus I guess everyone out there is expecting a deal so you cant even sell something brand new for what you could buy it for in the store. Any truth to this? Have either of you heard similar?

I think thats true on a lot of items, as well as the Buy It Now stuff; however, I go on Ebay for the auction aspect, so I dont do Buy It Now(s), and I also dont bid on anything w/a Reserve. If theres something specific Im looking for, Ill also do some price research beforehand to make sure Im getting a deal vs. just buying it on Ebay thinking itll be cheaper there.

Target has a pretty regimented nationwide clearancing schedule, which is reported on this website:

As a fellow Targeter, it is a great resource to know when to go to the store to find the best deals. A lot of people on that website make decent money buying up clearanced items and reselling on eBay. However, as Denny pointed out, eBay (and Paypal) rates do a pretty good job of killing your margin (inflated shipping rates can help soothe the pain). Just do your research ahead of time, and, if all else fails, keep your receipts and return whatever you cant make loot on.

So I guess dropping off my newborn at your doorstep once I go back to work is out of the question? Damn.
